The Lost Art of Making a Full Album.

What ever happened to the days gone by when people made a true "complete" work that REALLY meant something!? What happened to the love of the craft? Have we really become that far removed from making music so full and enlightening as 12 or so consecutive tracks that are true works of art to be proud of? Perhaps artists and producers of today are more focused and interested in the cash. Viable excuse I suppose. It's still no excuse for slacking on full works as opposed the 2 or 3 "hits" per album and forcing your fan base to sift through some of the garbage that has been put out.

"Only sick music makes money today." ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

For those of you out there who are jonesing for refreshment here are some gems. Listed here are a few albums, that in my humble opinion, have magical qualities and leave you weeping for more.

If you like them fantastic! If not, I suppose that's OK too. If you haven't heard them, give them a chance at least. Don't be afraid of the unknown. It's got so much potential, mystery, imagination and most of all intrigue. So dig the tunes and be happy.

  1. That is a long list, many I havne't heard of. But the concept of the album is lost by many.

Do you think it is coming back though, so some?

  2. Perhaps it is coming back a bit. But only in the underground. In my opinion most of the albums that I would consider "complete" are mostly done by electronica musicians, and they've been pretty consistent about that. It is much harder to come by in the rock/alternative genres. Well you should definitely check some of these albums out on Rhapsody, iTunes, Seeqpod or any P2P network if you have a chance. Thanks for the comment though. It's greatly appreciated.
